DESCRIPTION:
The text covers 11 of the most widely used family therapies providing a summary for each theory and then specific strategies for developing a treatment plan.. Unlike existing resources, this treatment planner provides a means to directly integrate family therapy theory and practice. By providing treatment planning strategies along with complete overviews of specific theories, the book provides a remedy for the common "missing link" between theory and practice. This text is a treatment planner and theory guide for therapists working from systemic and postmodern approaches. The purpose of this book is to fill the ever-widening gap between formal training in theory and actual practice in managed-care dominated workplaces

Pefect for MFTs! Rebecca I loved this book! Gehart's writing made the information easy to understand without sacrificing content. This book is perfect to have for a guide of treatment planning for many MFT sessions and approaches.. Gehart is the best! The BEST book out their explaining theories and treatment planningI don't leave home without it!!! I trust anything by Diane R. Gehart, she writes in a language that is easy to understand.. Ellamill said Theories for Dummies. I used this book instead of the required reading for my Theories and Techniques one and two classes. This book not only covers theories, it has treatment plans (yes treatment plans) and vignettes for each theory and it covered all the phases of goals (early, middle and late phases). It's so thin, I carry it with me when seeing client's, it's very helpful when I'm doing my treatment plans!
