"Great Book" according to PatriciaW. I have a large library of art books and most of them I find useless. However, this one on my top 5 list of most helpful books. This is an important book that is not just for still life painters, but for anyone wishing to paint realism. I am a still life painter, I was interested in learning more about flemish/old masters technique. There is so much useful information in this book, and the presen. Very very useful for beginner! Alina Maiboroda I am so happy to have this book. It told me how to draw in 7-layer tecnique. I just yersterday bought my first oil paints and it works perfectly. Now I have a clear idea abot how to make pantings. I think this book is nice for beginner (because I am a beginner). But I was kind of dissapointed when I knew that author is using transfer method for the draft. Everything else is just amazing! I am no. Back to Basics I haven't heard anyone mention "rabbit skin glue" since I was in art college many years ago. It is nice to hear from an artist who still believes in the craft of painting. These older master-painting techniques are valuable for any artist, and really should be understood and appreciated more in this age of instant images.
