"Not just terrible, but offensive too" according to Dee. The first thing I ever learned as a writer was "Show, Don't Tell." This is obviously something which Mr. Quatrone was never taught, because all he does is tell. The other reviews talk about the amazing "insightfulness" of his main character. It's not insightful: it is Mr. Quatrone telling us ad nauseum exactly what. "There is magic here." according to queenbee. I heard about this novel from a girlfriend who said it had merit, the most important being it displayed the inner workings of a male mind. I borrowed her copy. I was initially taken aback by the novel's opening sentence, "Johnny Alberi woke up with a huge erection and knew he'd have to follow wherever it led him to.
