Can't wait to read more from this talented new author.. Despite its flaws, it's still a pretty enjoyable book. Let me get the negatives out of the way first. First, whenever a character asks a question, the author seems to consistently use the format ["," (s)he asked?] when the correct format is ["?" (s)he asked.] Second, I felt that Pyra's story arc was underdeveloped, and it ended on a massive cliffhanger. Third, there is a chapter in the book that I think should have been left out. It's the chapter that starts off with the Emperor and one of his Generals watching a gladiatorial fight, and it spoils what would otherwise have been a surprising plot twist.
