Five Stars Ebert Exelente. Great introduction to piano Music teaching mom This book introduces students to reading music in a gradual way. It does show pictures of the notes which, though possibly a crutch as viewed by traditionalist music instructors, actually helps younger children get the feel of the notes and where they are on the keyboard. My son has been using Hal Leonard for over a year and is finishing book 2 and reading the music very well.By contrast, the Suzuki method of piano doesn't introduce music reading until much later in the program.I also like the accompanying CD. It helps my son to listen to and then play. Good overall value Kathleen Baffoni Good beginner piano book. I like that it has a CD so that you can listen to how the songs should sound. I purchased Book 1 for my son and he really enjoyed playing the CD in the car and listening to the songs he was learning.

The book includes a code that gives you online access to beautifully recorded backing tracks and MIDI files for download or streaming.. Book 2 opens with a new My Own Song improvisation on CDEFG. Unit 1 introduces phrasing and legato touch, and also presents harmonic 2nds and 3rds with staccato touch. The following two units are dedicated to the introduction of 4ths and 5ths. Also in Unit 3, sharps are introduced in a diatonic setting starting on D, and flats are introduced as blues notes. (Educational Piano Library). This book works very well for transfer students. Most pieces in the second half of Book 2 coordinate hands playing together
