DESCRIPTION:
It covers the current and newer areas of production of extracts from a host of natural products for food, pharmaceutical, and medicinal applications. 7 (2001) "This interesting book deals with recent developments in the use of supercritical carbon dioxide extraction (SCFE). "very well written and easy to follow. This allows it to be a useful reference for many industries including ours." Terry Gerstein, Society of Cosmetic Chemists, July/August 2001 . Rizvi, Institute of Food Science, Cornell University, in Food Technology " provides essential information for scientists interested in extractions in the lab
Synthesizing research from a wide variety of sources, this work offers a convenient guide to a clean, safe, inexpensive, non-toxic, non-polluting solvent that performs better than most conventional solvents. It outlines the many advantages the method has over traditional methods like steam distillation, solvent extraction, and molecular distillation and it supports the popular trend toward the use of natural products in these industries.. Natural Extracts Using Supercritical Carbon Dioxide reviews recent development in the technology and its applications to the food, flavor, fragrance, and pharma
Supcercritical CO2 extraction solves a lot of problems This book covers one of the most interesting topics for producing natural extracts without solvent residues in the product. Further it is possible to fractionate the products by changing pressure and temperature in the down stream process very low energy consumption compared to traditional methods.I am wondering why there is no stronger interest from industry for this technology, because up to now only few plants of industrial scale are operated with this technology, although a lot of rese. "Expensive, but worth it." according to Eden Botanicals. This is an expensive book, but worth every penny. Packed with practical information presented in a no-nonsense style. If you are interested in SCFE, this is the best book I have found so far, I only wish the author had other books offered on Amazon! The book has excellent diagrams for many extraction mechanisms, not merely SCFE. The author also provides an excellent description of the various types of botanical extracts, and historical methods also. Much detail that will be of interest to
