Insightful and Easy Reading Edward H Thompson I've read, admired and used this book since the first time I happened on it -- which is about ten years ago. I admire Colleen's generosity and courage in sharing her experience which, by the way, is very common to what I know to be true. I don't know that there is anyone who has served on a vestry or a comparable body across Christendom who will deny the insights she shares. The author has an ability to deliver biblical exegesis with such ease, clarity and biting humor that draws in the reader even if you are uncomfortable wit. Saintseattle said Not the most helpful book. It wasn't exactly what I expected. "Meditations" suggested there were perhaps prayers or great insights. It's a collection of the author's personal experiences and tid-bits of her idea of what makes a good Vestry member in the Episcopal Church. It's not clear why the author thinks she's qualified to make suggestions on how to succeed on the Vestry. She apparently quit her local parish Vestry when things got too controversial. She's the Sarah Palin of the Episcopal Vestry. Quit and then write a book.
