A said Read it. Enjoyed it so much I gave it as a present to quite a few at Christmas who also thoroughly enjoyed it.. Not books for reading straight through D. Clemmer But awesome for entertainment over short spans. I've been interested in etymologies since I took latin in high school, but this is the most entertaining book on them I've read. It crams a lot in (the information density is the largest reason why I can't read more than 10-15 pages in a sitting), but still stays both fascinating and funny. Highly recommended.. Fascinating tales Patrick Moriarty For lovers of words, this is verbal candy - great stories, linkages that read like plots fo detective novels, and so many instances of "I never knew that!". The only downside is that the tone is a bit condescending.
