I can not compare this book to others only the author's other work because there is so little material available on the Kings & Queens of Africa. I would recommend this book to be read to younger children and for maybe 4th and 5th graders to read. As stated, it is a good book. Charles L Burt said good for struggling readers. A great book for struggling readers and just curious readers.This series is informative, factual, and, hopefully, of high interest to jr high and high school students.

A glossary and a list of resources conclude, though the organizations and online sites seem geared more to teachers than students. A welcome offering to complement African history units.
