"My New Recommended Book" according to R. Mestdagh. As a teacher of APUSH for the past three years, I have typically steered my students to 5 Steps to a 5. This year I will be recommending Kaplan.I have purchased all the available review books that reflect the 2015 updates; seeing as the College Board has been less than helpful to teachers in this regard. Here is how I rank them:1) AMSCO (John Newman) is the best. This book offers eight stimulus-based multiple choice questions and six short answers per chapter (not period), and 6. A decent guide for studying the new AP U.S. History Exam. Better than some of the others, but not top drawer.. "Excellent resource with some drawbacks" according to MCS1968. This is an excellent prep book in many ways and the authors have done a good job with content, unit assessments, and practice tests that reflect the AP US History redesign. However, there are also some weaknesses. There is no mention of the historical themes which are a major component of the redesign: Identity, Work/Exchange/Technology, Peopling, Politics and Power, America in the World, Environment and Geography, Ideas/Beliefs/Culture.
