DESCRIPTION:
4 Stars Chad C. I was initially pumped to get ahold of this because Barth doesn't really seem to have writings that are set up in this sort of matter. I've gotten the impressions most of his theological writings are like Leo Tolstoy 900 page books ;).This book is sort of set up like a devotional verse at the top commentary belowAt first, I thought these were devotions written and chosen by Barth, but then realized (as it mentions on the back) that these were excerpts selected and compiled in devotional form by his last assistant in life. Some of them, you're like, "What? What a strange topic to put in a devotion. Excerpts from Barth's writings Kyle T This is an excellent book that was recommended to me by a friend. It would be good for theologically minded laypersons or clergy even if they are not familiar with Barth's work. It is a great example of how theological depth intersects with daily life.. Good Fodder Kindle Customer Karl Barth is difficult to read though the reader is richly rewarded for doing so. This volume is helpful selection of his thoughts as it "puts the hay down where the goats can get it". It is a great beginning into his writings as it entices us the read further. I used it as part of my morning devotions. Highly recommended!
