Great first chapter book If your child is ready to read chapter books, this book is a great choice The book outlines the tales of two dogs that travel out west with their owners. The story is completely told from the dogs' perspective which makes for an entertaining read. We've read the book at bedtime and my toddler enjoys it (despite the paucity of pictures). Home on the Range is an excellent book to get kids started on chapter books. It reminds me a bit of the Hank the Cowdog books, only for younger kids. The two lead dogs think their names are Sit and Down Girl, which is a great way to start things out. They travel to a country ranch with their owners, and have to get
