DESCRIPTION:

All about Fathers (and their Daughters) I disagree with the other reviewer. This is a book about what fathers are and can do for their daughters. It is not meant to be idealistic portraits of relationships, nor is it intended to focus on mothers as strong figures. These are thoughtful stories with extraordinary illustrations, including imaginative bordered pages.A lovely gift for a father to give his daughter.. Great Idea A Customer The idea is great of having father and daughter tales but to many of these stories focus on the evil step-mother and the young woman rescued by a wealthy man, who takes her away. I was hoping for stronger stories of the relationship between a father and daughter. I was also hoping for stronger female characters.. "As a daughter" according to S. Hughes. I remember this book being read to me when I was younger. It has wonderful illustrations and is very involving. It's a book of compiled fairy/folk-tales I don't think you can really expect strong female characters and women that can survive in the world entirely independently, that's not the culture of fairy-talesAnd children don't really care about that until they grow up and start doing literature degrees (like me), it's the storytelling that matters and this book is full of wonderful stories. A really good present
