penname said The student manual has a much better CD, one that is actually helpful in teaching. I'm learning Chinese and was looking for a book with more detailed information than the student manual. However, the teacher's manual is written for a Chinese-speaker who is teaching English speakers, rather than for English-speaking teachers who are teaching Chinese. In other words, the notes and instructions are all in Chinese, rather than in English, so it's not real helpful to me at this point. The CD that comes with it only has about 5 lessons on it, and only has the test m. "Great mandarin book for teachers, especially for IB" according to Sen. This book is aligned with IB curriculum, it includes(although outdated) assessment criterion for IB that teachers can modify and use to test students. Pretty much the same as the regular book but with teacher annotations and some answers. If you are teaching the book, I see no reason for you to not get one of these.
