DESCRIPTION:

"Rupp, Templin, and Henson have contributed significantly to the advancement of educational and psychological measurement by providing a comprehensive and lucid treatment of this critical contemporary measurement issue. Particularly noteworthy is the clear voice leading the reader logically and thoughtfully through theory, methods, and applications; throughout, one is never in doubt that the authors’ primary objectives are to promote rigorous intellectual dialogue about the current and future state of DCMs and to facilitate t

"Excellent book on the topic" according to Brian Erik. Definitely not light reading, but an excellent book on the topic. Well-written and useful for those who need to learn about diagnostic measurement models, either to evaluate research using them or to use them yourself.Update: I still look to the book every now and then, and toy with the idea of using diagnostic measurement models, but can't find the time to learn them fully. If you have a good understanding of IRT and mixture models, and know how to set them up with model constraints, etc., then I imagine you will be able to take full advantage of this book.. anonymous said Easy to understand. This book does a very good job at explaining Diagnostic Measurement in a manner that is easy to understand. It helped me to gain a good foundation so that I was able to read journal articles on the topic.. Interesting topic. Jonathon Templin, one of the authors jnanabay Interesting topic. Jonathon Templin, one of the authors, just taught a graduate level course using this as the text. He posted his lectures and PowerPoints online and was very friendly in allowing me to to participate as much as I could remotely as someone who just came across his website when I was looking for info on diagnostic models. His level of sharing complex info is admirable!

For the first time in a single volume, the authors present the key conceptual underpinnings and methodological foundations for applying these models in practice. Specifically, they discuss a unified approach to DCMs, the mathematical structure of DCMs and their relationship to other latent variable models, and the implementation and estimation of DCMs using Mplus. The book's highly accessible language, real-world applications, numerous examples, and clearly annotated equations will encourage professionals and students to explore the utility and statistical properties of DCMs in their own projects. Winner--Award for Significant Contribution to Educational Measurement and Research Methodology, AERA Division D. The companion website (guilford/rupp-materials) features chapter exercises with answers, data sets, Mplus syntax code, and output. This book provides a comprehensive introduction to the theory and practice of diagnostic classification models (DCMs), which are useful for statistically driven diagnostic decision making. DCMs can be employed in a wide range of disciplines, including ed
