Autumn Witch said I wanted to HATE this book so much.. I set this book down after I read I cried for quite a long time. It is not often that someone like myself relates so much with a character in a book. But right from the start I saw so much of myself in Lisa and not just me everyone like me as well.Let me start off my saying this. This book was published in 1955. It is a book advertised to be titillating. Indeed a banner on top of the cover reads "A Brilliant Story of Lesbian Love" and of course it has one of those noir 50's covers t. Well-Written Pulp Drama Emerson and Edna are successful restauranteurs and a loving couple in every sense of the words. Avery and Lisa are an independently wealthy couple who are anything but. Of course, Lisa is a confirmed lesbian who wed Avery at her brother's instigation. Avery has never been able to perform sexually with a woman, so having Lisa as a wife should be no problem. Even the distractions created by the beautiful Edna should cause no difficulties as the two couples' lives become increasingly e
