Ann C. Turkle said A satisfying mystery on many levels!. This mystery is satisfying in so many respects, Yes, it's a very satisfactory who-done-it driven by complex characters. But it also provides a setting that is so well realized, I found myself back on Florida's "Redneck Riviera," an area I have not visited in many years. Functioning as an undercurrent -- though not a distraction -- is the community's anxiety over the effects of the BP oil spill. Larue Panther's family is represen. Loved it! I was steered to this book by a friend and after only a few pages I was in love with these characters. They are quirky and interesting but also very believable and real, and Mary Jane Ryals has put them in a great mystery story. Anyone interested in a good who-done-it and who likes strange/original Florida novels (think Carl Hiaasen or Tim Dorsey) should try this book. Fabulously written it also has a page-turner plot and a fant. The plot will lead the reader on a fine dance before the last mask falls and the truth CYNTHIA MARVIN Mary Jane Ryal's new novel is imbued with a nostalgia for a place and way of life that is being killed off by population pressure and aggressive development. Even a reader not familiar with her poetry will recognize the poet in the author. MJ's quirky descriptions of her beloved Panhandle(and its denizens) and her keen eye for local color bring the offbeat Florida cracker society of her characters to sizzling life. LaRue Panther
