Carver and the entire cast seize you from the first issue and never let go. This universe feels fleshed out from the start, letting you know more and more about the backstory behind every punch, stout drink, and hangover as the plot progresses. The atmosphere author/artist Chris Hunt creates with his panels creates a classic noir feel that mixes mediums like Chinatown with more recent adap. There is a saying in music production that a great song is more about what isn't there then what Jay Saenz Carver is one of those comics that successfully transports you to another world.
