Great Book for Rythyms Most Get Wrong Today Donald If you really want to know the proper 'Bossa Nova' drum pattern and many others this book is for you.I find many drummers are just faking latin and other rhythyms when playing. You can set yourself apart from the pack by actually studying these patterns in this book. This is an advanced book and will be of little value unless you can actually read music for the entire drum set and of course play the drums as well.. Essential book for enlarging your vocabulary of basic rhythms Another great book from Ted Reed. A really good way to learn the basic rhythms for a whole lot of different types of music, incl numerous Latin beats, Greek, Israeli, as well as some novelties of the time. Bear in mind that this book is written in the mid 60's, so more contemporary beats like Hip Hop, etc are not in there, but to be honest, that suits me just fine as I play mostly swing and jazz.. I recommend learning how to use both your arms and legs I recommend learning how to use both your arms and legs in a coordinated manner by using basic beginning drummer books before doing this book. However, once you are ready, this book really helps. Suddenly I can pick up different rhythms in songs I hear on the radio. These rhythms give me an idea how to create drum patterns for my original songs.
