This book is an invaluable and beautifully-presented overview of the Met's once-in-a-lifetime display of the jewelry, temples, and irreplaceable artifacts of the heart of the ancient western world, corresponding to what Arab nationalists now want to re-assemble as their caliphate. This was one of the very best museum exhibits I have ever attended -- many hundreds in New York City, Chicago, London, Paris and many others.
